April 6, 2009 — Sara Evans has led
a classic rags-to-riches existence, growing up on a Missouri farm on
her way to becoming a major country star and one of People magazine’s Most Beautiful People in the World. She’ll be the subject of a new GAC series with the Monday premiere of Backstory: Sara Evans.
The series is the only biographical documentary devoted exclusively to country’s top stars, and Sara’s Backstory
is a perfect launch, featuring early career stories, her recovery from
a crushing accident and her rise to prominence. In addition to Sara’s
own voice, the edition also features commentary from her mother,
husband, co-writers, record label president and friend Sheryl Crow.
"We've wanted to launch a series of this type for a long time,"
says Sarah Trahern, Senior Vice President of programming for GAC.
"We're thrilled to be able to give our viewers exclusive information on
the artists they love to watch."
Backstory: Sara Evans debuts at 8 p.m. ET on Monday. The next artist celebrated in the series will be Darius Rucker.

I was looking at PerezHilton.com and a Google ad come up featuring Sara Evans. It says, Jeff Denham for LT Governor. Campign kick off with special guest Country Star Sara Evans. They say the dates are:
March 30, 2009 — It’s been 13 months since Dolly Parton released her Backwoods Barbie
album, but the CD found new life when she added three more songs for a
collector’s edition that’s being sold exclusively at Cracker Barrel.
Dolly being Dolly, you figure she could’ve found lots of places
to put her music, but the Tennessee-based Cracker Barrel — which has
also had exclusive projects with Sara Evans, Josh Turner and Kenny
Rogers, among others — was a really great fit for the Tennessee-based
owner of Dollywood.
"You think about it," Dolly told Suzanne Alexander on the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville.
"They love a lot of the same things I do: family — I had two uncles
that owned country stores back home — and the fact that they have that
great country food. I’ve been eatin’ at Cracker Barrel for years and
years and years, and everyday — or at least every week — I send
somebody over there to get some cornbread and muffins or somethin'."
"Of course," she continued, "they sell a lot of music at
Cracker Barrel, along with some other wonderful things that I’ve bought
through the years, and it just seemed to be the perfect thing for kind
of the way that I grew up, that mountain flavor, country-people flavor,
and so it made a nice coupling."
Dolly upped the ante on the deal when Cracker Barrel rolled out
a special Dolly edition pink rocking chair. Only 1,350 copies were
made, and Dolly figures they’re going to run out very quickly.
"Pink is more a Barbie color," she told The Asheville Citizen-Times. "People are buying them up just to get them off the [Cracker Barrel] porches!"
Some of the songs featured on Backwoods Barbie are also part of Dolly’s theatrical production of 9 To 5: The Musical. Previews for the show begin on Broadway April 7.

March 19, 2009 — For decades, country musicians have been employed
during election cycles to perform on the campaign trail for politicians
hoping to win support at the voting booth. Just this last fall, artists
such as Lee Greenwood, John Rich, Hank Williams Jr. and Gretchen Wilson
hit the road with Republican candidates John McCain and Sarah Palin.
That tradition was turned upside down this week when West
Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin supported the campaign of Brad Paisley. He
lobbied residents of the Mountain State to vote for Brad for
Entertainer of the Year in the "44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards".
"Brad Paisley is a great performer and a fellow West Virginian,
so I encourage all residents to show their support and go online to
vote for Brad," the governor said, according to Wheeling TV station
WTRF. "West Virginians support each other, and we should support Brad
in this endeavor. Your vote is important, because the audience will
help determine the outcome of one of country music’s top awards this
year. West Virginians, let’s work together and get our friends and
family to take just a moment and vote online for Brad. It would be
great to have a West Virginian obtain this prestigious country music
recognition."
It puts a unique spin on the awards. Until recently, the ACMs
were strictly an industry-voted event. Fans got a chance to cast
ballots for the Home Depot Humanitarian Award when it was introduced
earlier this decade, and last year, the California-based Academy opened
the vote for Entertainer to fans for the first time. Kenny Chesney won
the trophy, but he wondered aloud backstage if the new rules might not
reward the best-organized fan club instead of the best actual
performer.
Voting for the Entertainer trophy is currently open to fans,
with Brad and Kenny competing against Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood and
George Strait. Fans can also vote on the Top New Artist of the Year
from three candidates who’ve already picked up "new" honors: Jake Owen,
Top New Male; Julianne Hough, Top New Female; and the Zac Brown Band,
Top New Vocal Duo or Group.
Jake, Julianne and the ZBB all appear on a GAC special, ACM Top New Artists. Hosted by Sara Evans, it premieres Thursday at 10 p.m. ET.
The final ceremony is slated for April 5 in Las Vegas.
March 17, 2009 — When Lady Antebellum walked off with the
Academy of Country Music’s trophy for Top New Vocal Duo/Group a year
ago, it was a phenomenal moment. They had just one hit single at the
time, and their first album hadn’t even been released when they got
nominated.
The ACM honor was a sign that the industry as a whole was behind the trio, and it’s not been forgotten.
"I have watched that back so many times on my DVR to make sure it really happened," group member Dave Haywood told the ACM’s Tempo
magazine. "It was far beyond our wildest dreams, honestly. If nothing
else happened after that, we could have walked away just completely
happy, but things kept coming in, and it was like, ‘What in the world
is going on?’"
Quite a bit, obviously. The album has since gone gold, Lady A
has picked up two more hits, and the band was also tapped as an opening
act for Kenny Chesney’s upcoming summer tour. In the meantime, the
group is also nominated for Top Vocal Group in this year’s ACMs, slated
for April 5.
The Academy has established an extra tier in its "new" awards
this year, with the Top New Artist of the Year trophy going to either
Julianne Hough (Top New Female), Jake Owen (Top New Male) or the Zac
Brown Band (Top New Duo/Group). Sara Evans hosts a GAC special, ACM Top New Artists, with performances by all three artists. It debuts Thursday at 10 p.m. ET.
March 11, 2009 — Sara Evans has written a number of her biggest
hits, including "Born To Fly," "I Keep Looking" and "You’ll Always Be
My Baby." Now she’s tackling something even bigger: her first novel.
Sara has signed a four-book deal with Nashville’s Thomas Nelson publishing company, The Nashville Business Journal reported, and her debut novel is expected this year.
Sara characterizes the plot as an "emotional, Southern-flavored, multi-generational tale, featuring a compelling love story."
"I believe there is power in great stories," she said. "This is the kind of book I love to read and share."
Sara’s co-writing with Rachel Hauck, whose credits include Diva Nash Vegas and Love Starts With Elle.
On Thursday, Sara will shoot a GAC special, ACM Top New Artists,
in Nashville. She’s set to host the program, which will highlight the
contenders for Top New Artist of the Year: Julianne Hough, Jake Owen
and the Zac Brown Band.
Sara signs book deal with Thomas Nelson Publishing Company
Platinum-selling country recording artist Sara Evans will publish her
debut novel with Thomas Nelson later this year, having signed a
four-book deal with the publisher. The novel is the first in a series
and will release in conjunction with a new album by Evans on RCA
Records. She is currently in the studio writing and recording and will
perform at various tour dates throughout 2009.
"Signing well-known entertainers to write stories in synch with their
established brands is a great way to satisfy fans who are hungry for
more from their favorite celebrities," said Allen Arnold, Senior Vice
President and Publisher, Thomas Nelson Fiction.
Fans of Evans' music will find much to enjoy in the inspirational
fiction series. She calls it an "emotional, Southern-flavored,
multi-generational tale, featuring a compelling love story." Evans
drew inspiration for the characters from her own family life and
experiences growing up.
"I believe there is power in great stories," said Evans. "This is the kind of book I love to read and share."
Evans' debut novel is written with bestselling author Rachel Hauck,
known for novels like Diva NashVegas and Love Starts with Elle.
In March 2009, Evans will host the ACM GAC Top New Artist Special, that
will launch the fan voting for the ACMs three new categories: Top New
Female Vocalist, Top New Male Vocalist and Top New Vocal Duo or Group
Sara Evans is currently working on her sixth studio album. Sara stated
in a video posting to her fan club on December 23, 2008, that she is
working with her brother Matt Evans and producer Nathan Chapman on her
next album. The first single is expected sometime in early 2009, with
the album to be released later in 2009.
Country Rosters Remain Stable Despite Sales Downturn
Even though advancing technology and a souring economy continue to sap album sales, the rosters of the major country music
labels have remained remarkably stable over the past year. There have been no wholesale purges of artists and no precipitous
drops in the number of new signings.
Currently, there are 167 acts attached to the country labels that reported their
rosters to CMT.com. Of the acts reported, 38 were duos or groups, 82 were male performers and 47 female.
Sara has been nominated for two Dove awards for her involvement in the
"Billy: The Early Years Official Motion Picture Soundtrack" and "How
Great Thou Art: Gospel Favorites from the Grand Ole Opry" albums. The
awards ceremony will be held on April 23, 2009 in Nashville, TN.
"How Great": Vince, Alan, Sara, Brad Get Dove Nominations
Feb. 23, 2009 — How Great Thou Art: Gospel Favorites From The Grand Ole Opry
— an album that led to a successful 2008 GAC special — helped Brad
Paisley, Sara Evans, Vince Gill and Alan Jackson each collect a pair of
nominations for the Gospel Music Association’s 40th annual Dove Awards.
How Great Thou Art is in the running for the GMA’s
Best Special Event Album honor, a category that has Brad, Sara, Vince
and Alan competing against themselves. Alan, Sara and Brad garnered
their second nominations for appearances on the soundtrack to Billy: The Early Years, a Special Event nominee. Vince is part of the crew featured on Country Bluegrass Homecoming Volume One, likewise among the finalists for the same award.
For their contributions to How Great Thou Art, Billy or Country Bluegrass Homecoming,
a bevy of other artists were also featured on the Dove nominations
list, including such well-known country stars as Brooks & Dunn,
Josh Turner, Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, Loretta Lynn, Trace
Adkins, Ronnie Milsap, Ricky Skaggs, the Whites, Patty Loveless and
Marty Stuart.
Randy Travis’ Around The Bend and Richie McDonald’s I Turn To You
are among the five finalists for Best Country Album, while George
Strait’s "I Saw God Today" — written by Monty Criswell, Wade Kirby and
Rodney Clawson — got a nod for Best Country Recorded Song. Its
competition includes the Oak Ridge Boys’ "Did I Make A Difference,"
written by Rob Crosby and Bill Anderson; and the Gaither Vocal Band’s
"Jesus And John Wayne," whose four writers include Doug Johnson and Kim
Williams, who previously wrote Randy’s "Three Wooden Crosses."
Others on the list with country connections include:
• Sawyer Brown’s Mark Miller, producer of Casting Crowns’ Peace On Earth,
up for Best Christmas Album. Casting Crowns earned a total of five
nominations, tying the band for second place behind singer-songwriter
Chris Tomlin, who received seven.
• Phil Madeira, nominated as a songwriter on Point Of Grace’s
Country Recorded Song nominee "I Wish." Phil has contributed keyboards
to hits by Toby Keith and Travis Tritt.
• Bluegrass music’s Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, who picked up three nominations.
• Keyboard player Bernie Herms, nominated twice as a producer
for his wife, Natalie Grant, who received a total of five nominations.
Bernie’s worked as a musician on a raft of Brad Paisley hits, including
"Wrapped Around," "Little Moments" and "I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’
Song)."
• Producer Brown Bannister, a double nominee. A veteran of the
Christian music business, Brown also produced country hits in the 1980s
and ‘90s for Kenny Rogers and Paul Overstreet.
• Former "American Idol" contestant Chris Sligh, nominated
twice. He shares one of those nods with co-writer Clint Lagerberg for
Song of the Year candidate "Empty Me." Chris and Clint co-wrote Rascal
Flatts’ current country hit "Here Comes Goodbye."
The 40th annual Dove Awards will be presented April 23 at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House — the same place where GAC taped the How Great Thou Art special.
George Strait, Randy Travis Receive Dove Award Nominations
George Strait, Randy
Travis and former Lonestar member Richie McDonald are among those receiving
nominations in the country categories of the Gospel Music Association's 40th annual Dove Awards. The nominees were announced
Friday (Feb. 20) in Nashville. Strait is nominated as an artist in the country recorded song category for "I Saw God Today,"
written by Rodney Clawson, Monty Criswell and Wade Kirby. Other artists in the country song category are the
Oak Ridge Boys (for "Did I Make a Difference," written by Bill Anderson
and Rob Crosby), the Living Waters Trio ("Good Side of Goodbye"), Point of Grace ("I Wish") and the Gaither Vocal Band ("Jesus
and John Wayne"). Nominated for country album are Travis' Around the Bend, McDonald's I Turn to You, the Living
Waters Trio's Home for Now, Bart Millard's Hymned Again and Crabb Revival's Runaway Train. Among the
nominees for special event album is the soundtrack to Billy: The Early Years, a film about evangelist Billy Graham.
The soundtrack features music by Brooks & Dunn, Sara
Evans, Alan Jackson, Patty
Griffin, Brad Paisley and Josh
Turner, among others. Nominated in the same category is How Great Thou Art: Gospel Favorites From the Grand Ole Opry,
a compilation featuring Jackson, Evans, Paisley, Trace Adkins, Vince
Gill, Dierks Bentley, Carrie
Underwood and others. The Dove Awards show is scheduled for April 23 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.
Rodney Atkins performs during the Sprint Sound & Speed Country
Concert at the Sommet Center on Friday, January 9, 2009 in Nashville,
TN B) Aaron Crisler / Retna Ltd.
Feb. 11, 2009 — The opening lines of "Cleaning This Gun
(Come On In Boy)" take a good-natured laugh over education, but for
Rodney Atkins, the learning never stops. He might have earned four No.
1 singles off his last album, but he’s still open to the right teacher.
In his case, that instructor was a vocal coach, Janet Kenyon,
who’s also worked with Josh Turner, Lady Antebellum and former
"American Idol" contestant Melinda Doolittle.
Performing live seemed to wear out Rodney, and his voice, and Janet was able to help him fix the problem.
"It's amazing," he told The Cleveland Plain Dealer. "We
started from square one, like I'd never sung a note in my life, and
retaught myself to sing. Turns out, I was making it harder to sing."
There was no mystery about it. College voice instructors have
preached for years — probably for centuries — that while the vocal
cords help color the sound of the voice and determine the frequency,
it’s important to start the note all the way down in the diaphragm.
Rodney paid attention. Now he’s able to finish the shows without wearing out, and his voice has gotten more powerful.
"It sounds bigger," he said. "The front-of-house guy said he had to turn my vocal down like five decibels from where I was."
Rodney will need that voice for the summer concert season — and
for a couple of country music festivals on tap this spring. He’s on the
bill April 2-4 at Country Thunder USA in Florence, Ariz., where the
lineup includes Montgomery Gentry, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton and Alan
Jackson. Rodney’s also slated for the STICKS Festival April 17-18 in
Auburn, Ala., with Trace Adkins, Gretchen Wilson, Diamond Rio and Sara
Evans.
Hey everyone, I will be going out of town for 2 days so I will be unable to update. Updates will resume late Sunday or Monday morning. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Feb. 5, 2009 — The new-artist categories in the annual Academy of
Country Music Awards are getting a new look: Fans will be able to vote
on the winners for the first time this year through GACTV.com with the
public also deciding who’s eligible for a brand new honor.
The ACM presents three different trophies that recognize fresh
blood in the country music industry: Top New Female Vocalist, Top New
Male Vocalist and Top New Vocal Duo or Group. Beginning Feb. 13, fans
can vote for one of the three finalists in each category at GACtv.com.
Voting will remain open through March 5. Four days later, the three
winners will be announced, and those acts will then be entered in
another round of online fan voting, from March 16 through April 5, for
a brand new overall honor, Top New Artist.
That winner will be revealed — along with all the other victors
— during the 44th annual ACM Awards, telecast by CBS April 5 from the
MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
"GAC is honored to be part of this fan-focused selection
process particularly because so many of these top new artists get their
first exposure to TV on GAC," said Sarah Trahern, senior vice president
of programming for GAC. "Country music fans everywhere will get the
rare opportunity to show their support for the many talented new
artists in our country format."
In conjunction with the balloting, reigning Top New Male
Vocalist Jack Ingram will host a GAC special featuring the nine
new-artist nominees Feb. 20. In addition, Sara Evans will take part in
a March 10 taping of a second special in which the three winners from
the first round of voting will receive their trophies. The acts will
all perform as well.
Who are the nominees in the new-artist categories? They haven’t
yet been announced. All the nominees for this year’s ACMs will be
unveiled next Wednesday morning at the Country Music Hall of Fame and
Museum in Nashville by LeAnn Rimes, Jessica Simpson, Julianne Hough and
Kellie Pickler.
The Academy of Country Music, dick clark productions and Great American

fit and extension of that support," said Bob Romeo, executive director
of the Academy of Country Music.
Orly Adelson, president of dcp said, "dick clark productions has always
celebrated the instrumental role music fans play in the popularity of
new and emerging artists. The ability for country artists to vote
directly online will provide them with an even greater opportunity to
make their voices heard."
The first GAC special, hosted by reigning Top New Male Vocalist Jack
Ingram, will feature the nine nominees, three from each newcomer
category, and will premiere on Friday, February 20. This special will

On March 10, GAC will tape a special hosted by Sara Evans, wherein the

Top New Female Vocalist, Top New Male Vocalist, and Top New Vocal Duo
or Group. Each winning act will perform on this special, which will air
March 19 with multiple re-airs scheduled.
The winner of the new Top New Artist category will be awarded on the
44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards broadcast LIVE from the MGM
Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Sunday, April 5, 2009 at 8:00 PM live
ET/delayed PT on the CBS Television Network.
Nominees for the Academy of Country Music Awards will be announced on Wednesday, February 11, in Nashville.
** we are also having trouble with people spamming on the tagboard, and I had to delete some questionable things on there, so please do not spam because it makes it harder on me to stuff on here.**
***I also deleted more spam comments, its really under control and I am pissed.***
First off Sara Evans has not been doing much so news is slow right now, and I continue to look everyday but I am also very frustrated right now. It seems like I spend a few days every week, banning spammers and deleting spam comments, and then they keep changing their ips and writing more spam comments. I find it extremely rude to come to a site, and spam the comments. Its rude because not only do I have to add news on a daily basis, but then I have to spend more time deleting comments, and it seems like no matter how much I delete stuff, it comes back in greater numbers. And I beyond frustrated
Update: 1/30- Deleted and banned more spam comments.
First off, I am sorry about all the spam comments that have been going on. Its just hard for me to delete the spam comments and control them because the person that leaves the spam comments, changes their ip almost everyday and its get out of control. Atleast for today I deleted all the spam comments.
Jan. 23, 2009 — Keith Anderson is set to undergo what he’s terming "minor vocal cord surgery" this month and, as a result, he’s
cancelled his concerts through the end of February while he recovers.
"I’m grateful to be able to take this time off during the dead
of winter, a typically slower time on the touring schedule," Keith
says. "I certainly look forward to hitting it full throttle in March."
According to his website, five shows bit the dust: Hampton,
Va., this Saturday; Yuma, Ariz., Feb. 7; Decatur, Ala., Feb. 18; Grand
Rapids, Mich., Feb. 20; and Chicago, Feb. 21. Keith had been named as
one of Dolly Parton’s guests at a Feb. 2 benefit show in Nashville, but
that’s presumably off the schedule, too.
The specific nature of the ailment has not been revealed. Keith
indicates it hasn’t caused pain, but did note that it had required him
to cancel several dates last year. Dr. C. Gaelyn Garrett, of the
Vanderbilt Medical Center, suggested surgery and a cessation of singing
for the next five weeks.
Vanderbilt has one of the nation’s most highly regarded voice
clinics. Among the country stars who’ve used the facility are Josh
Turner, Willie Nelson, Chris Cagle, Sara Evans, Patty Loveless and John
Michael Montgomery.
